Fun Monday #38: the security blanket edition

The lovely #38 hostess Karina says:

I want to see your security blankets. No, not the kind Linus carries around with him in the Charlie Brown cartoons, although, if you have one of those, by all means share it. What I want to see are the items you just cannot leave home without.

Well now. I do not have a Linus'ish blankie, though I will admit to having one as a baby. But there are several things I absolutely positively will NOT leave home without:

My phone. I feel absolutely NAKEY without it.

My watch. Any day that I walk out of the house without a watch on my wrist is a day that gives me non-stop ootchies (that's a technical term).

My wedding ring. All together now, "Awwwww." Yes, I'm a revoltingly happily married woman, and the ring on my finger is an important symbol.

And there ya have it. The things that give me comfort out in the cold, cruel world.

Now sign the "guest book" (so I know you were here!), and then go check out the other Fun Monday participants.

Good one - very nice wedding ring! I always forget my cell phone when I am leaving the house.

Have a great Monday!

guest book? I missed the guest book?

I put my phone through the soak cycle of the washing machine.

They both still work (the wash machine and the phone) but I'm looking for a front loader and a phone I can read the numbers. It doesn't take pictures anymore, but it still rings.

I used to wear a watch, but when I stopped working I stopped wearing it. I used to wear a wedding ring too, but when I stopped having sex with my wife I stopped wearing that too (just kidding!)

Your ring is lovely. I can see why you like to wear it. Just beautiful.

Your wedding ring is beautiful; one of the prettiest that I have seen. You have an i-phone? You are the modern woman! I use my phone to keep time so I rarely wear a watch.

How'd you do it?

the ring is really sweet. i didnt think about it. and i used to HAVE to wear a watch. I stopped wearing it on purpose to try and tone down my personality-Type A if you please, and now I settle for Type B with Type A moments of hysteria. you can fool yourself into calming down. that rocks!

A watch! I knew I was forgetting something this morning!! ;-) I feel the same way about leaving home without a watch.

Happy Monday!

That was very sweet. I'm terrible about forgetting my ring, and being short & young-looking, I can get some stares when I travel with tyke. Whoever said Bible Belters weren't the world's most judging people, has never lived here! I'm with you on the phone.

Yes, I forgot I do have to put my watch on before I leave the house. I always take it off as soon as I get home too. I always wear my wedding ring, I rarely take it off even to cook or do dishes, but it is a smooth gold wedding band. My original ring is being sized right now. About a 1/4 inch bigger.

Aw, your wedding ring is so pretty (insert annoying squeak here.)

Love love your wedding ring.

I love my ring and I am so sad I cant wear it.I had to pry it off yesterday as it was too tight. It took a layer of skin off, not over the knuckle as it was getting pulled off, there is a band of skin missing where the ring was on my finger.. Time for me to hit the gym or resize my ring.
I never never evah take my watch off. It is such a part of me that I forgot to mention it...I would be beyond lost without it.

We all need as much comfort as we can get against the cold cruel world.

You have a great wedding ring, but I'm really in love with your watch!

Happy Fun Monday.

I love your band. I was so absorbed in the purse thing I didn't think about my true comforts.

I am puzzled by the watch when you have a cell phone?? :) My ring never leaves my finger so I don't even think about it much. :)

Phone and WATCH! I totally forgot the watch - I wonder why we still need the watches, when the phone has a clock? And yeah - I've joined the nablopomo funny farm, too.

Great post, I didn't think of my ring as I never take it off so it's like part of my finger now! Also didn't think of my watch but I ALWAYS wear it it drives me crazy not knowing the time.
Happy Fun Monday!

I forgot about my watches and wedding ring. Just a part of the background and didn't think of em. Never leave home without a watch on. I have a beautiful gold watch my hubby bought several years ago, lego watch that stole, err borrowed from my son and just a regular one.

Beautiful ring - thanks for sharing

happy fun monday

I didn't even think of my watch, but I only ever take it off to shower or swim and occasionally if I've got my hands too deep in water. I love your ring it is so pretty. I have found recently my fingers have been affected with arthritis and I cannot wear many of my rings anymore. I suppose I should bet them altered.

Three very important things. I still can't believe I forgot all about my watch. I never leave home without it. Your ring is beautiful!

LIBSMOM said...

Shoot, I fogot about my TAG too. I never leave without it, how in the world do people without watches tell time? Or BE ON time? :)
The cell phone, I think was the most mentioned can't leave without item from all the Fun Monday participants. What DID we do before the days of the c-phone?

Sirdar said...

Never thought of the wedding ring. I have mine on all the time too. My wife lost hers...

I'm with you on the watch. It has to be with me.

I most always wear my watch, but check the time on the cell phone which is what I have with me always. I would love to show off my wedding rings, but I dont' have any anymore - been divorced for quite a few years.

Awesome phone, awesome watch, awesome ring!! Now for me, my cell phone battery is perpetually dead, my watch battery is dead and my wedding band caused my hand to break out in hives.

Not wearing a wedding band isn't a good look for a person with lots of small children. I get a lot of "Wow, you're a single mom, huh?!"

Tink said...

Ooo, I love the design of the band! So pretty.

I love your wedding ring.

My phone *is* my watch. Both my ring and Danny's are broken. His got ripped off his finger on the job and almost took his finger with it. I put mine on the right hand one night after doing plaster work on the house. (I was very tired.) When I woke up in the morning, my finger was purple and the ring had to be cut off. I'd probably had that ring off my finger a total of 4 or 5 times in 16 years.

I forgot to tell you how much I like your watch. That is the style of watch I had exactly except mine was a Fossil not a Tag Heuer (sp?) My son has one of those James Bond styles of theirs. He loves his watch and his BMW. He grew up watching too much James Bond! He has expensive tastes, I just hope he gets the job to go with them!
