Last week, I showed J-bear in search of her pre-black belt. This week -- she wears it.
There's a little bit of a story with the belt that she received. She did get one of her own, but the one that was tied around her this week belonged to one of her teachers and has been passed down four more times.
Grand Master starts the process:

The belt's original owner completes it:

The tradition continues:

Next up? FISH!
Remember my dead fish? Well, this is the OTHER fish. The one that's NOT dead ... yet:
An attempt to show how big Jack really is:
When bored, draw smiley faces on your leg:
Silly, silly girl:

Congrats on her belt!
I'm off to draw smiley faces on my legs now...
Wow, very cool belt tradition and such fun shots, too!
That's a great tradition.(The belt, not the smiley face leg) I love the silly girl. She'd fit in well at out house!
We have a few of those silly girls at our house! At least this one only used biro, one of my silly girls once did the same thing with permanent marker! Not nice!
I do miss my silly girls being that young though! Now the idea of being silly is making mama get out of bed at ungodly hours to collect silly girls and boys from nightclubs!
I love that tradition that the Sensei started. What an honor that must be and it must feel so good to her! WTG!!
As for Roo, I had to laugh at the smiley faces. Too. funny!
That fish is HUGE!
My daughter sits/sat like that in front of the TV! I love the foto!It reminded me so much of her and how much I miss having her around (she is away at college in Asuncion). Just wanted to "de-lurk" and tell you I love your blog!
Congrats on the black belt that is so incredibly cool. I love that you posted the pics.
The smiley face thing makes perfect sense to me!
And that fish is BIG. WOW.
The black belt is amazing!
And I'm loving the fishy. I want one :D
And RG had me giggling. Love the smiley faces!!
Holy moly! That's a big fish!!
YAY for the pre-black belt!!!
The last two photos are really fun.
Cool fish!
Congratulations on the belt - that's a great accomplishment!
The rest are so fun!
If you show another picture of your poor fish my cats will jump in my screen and catch him/her, lol !
This time I am sure she IS a girl ! I said Judo is nice for a girl because she can defend herself far better when a guy has bad ideas and attacks her. My neighbor's daughter is a tiny little woman who looks like if you could blow her away. But she is a Judo teacher and has the black belt I don't know how many dans ! Once on the street a guy wanted to steel her purse, I can tell you the guy ran quickly away "slightly" damaged ! I found that really nice and funny !
I miss my daughter being that young and goofy! Man, that is a huge fish!
DeBoy draws all over himself. Literally. Yes, there too.
That is a very cool belt tradition. Congratulations to J-Bear!
The fish? OMG. That is all.
That's a big fish. And your daughters are cute. Like Mommy.
Those smiley faces are too funny! And she is too cute!
Congrats to J-Bear on the belt! That is really awesome.
Your girls and your fish could most certainly kick my ass. Not the sick fish, though. I'm pretty sure I could take it.
Your girls are cool. I really like the last pic of Roo, it's strangely compelling.
Writing in oneself or on a friend is so junior high. Both my boys did it between 12-14. They'd try to get "friends" with permanent markers when they weren't looking. Remember MASH when Charles had smiles drawn on his knees? Snerk.
Yeah for the next belt!!!!!!!!!!
I love the last photo. Great expression
Congrats to your daughter on her belt! The smiley faces are funny! My oldest son is 12 1/2 & he draws "art" on his legs & arms ALL the time :)
