Evidently, I thought we needed a status check

Interim "Breaking Dawn" report from the Roo-girl: At about halfway through, she has declared it a "major disappointment."

I haven't had a chance to get at it yet, though I'm hoping for some uninterrupted time later today.

But since, a little more than 48 hours later, she still hasn't finished it? Well, this is a CLEAR message that my vampire-obsessed daughter is u.n.h.a.p.p.y. with her idol's literary efforts.

Job situation: still tenuous. Morale? In the toilet. Job hunt? In full force.

I am clicking away on blogs that I read. Hope that your page views go through the roof.

Hormonal teen report: not too bad. Summer school is over at last. She is kinda crying into her beer over a boy who has broken her heart. Much angst-ridden poetry ensues.

Earthquake report: There are undoubtedly aftershocks, but I'm not really feeling them where I am.

However, the funniest image to come out of that experience (other than the eye-gouging visual of my pole-dancing mother) is the look that must have been on someone's face when s/he googled "what to do in an earthquake" and came up with this post.

My head is still trying to wrap itself around the notion of pole-dancing grannies. EEEWWWW. Help Me! I mean - that could be MY MOM! Blah! Yuck1 Retch!!! damn. I'm going to be ALL DAY trying to erase that image from my head.

So is this a book that adults could read as well?

FIngers crossed something comes up on the job front for you. We spend half our lives at work and there's nothing worse than being miserable there.

I'm sorry work is so craptastic. I hope it gets better.XOXO

I see that pole-dancing in an earthquake zone might be an occupational hazard.

Perhaps, you can find a positon with some writing for an online company. My daughter-in-law writes a blog for Parents magazine. However, she has another full-time job that involves writing for a drug-testing company.

In general, print journalism jobs do not seem to pay much. I think that my son could have applied for food stamps when he wrote for a small town daily newsapaper.

Poor Roo - I had the same experience with the latest Jill Churchill book. Of course, she's on something like 18 or 20, so I guess eventually she was bound to dry up. Not everyone can be Agatha Christie.

I know how you feel about the job situation and it's not fun, not one bit.

Ah...the angsty teen I (don't) miss those and how I'm (NOT) looking forward to them with my two girls.

Poor Roo! There is nothing worse than having high hopes and having them unfullfilled.

Ah, angst ridden poetry. I wish I still had all those notebooks.

Well, I just finished the book last night since my own teen wanted to finish rereading the third book before starting the new one, and I'll admit to really liking it. I'll have to see what the teen thinks now that I've turned it over!
