Fun Monday: the answer me this edition

Lisa from Lisa's Chaos is our hostess this week. She offered a choice:
What is one thing you would like to ask your readers? Come up with a question to pose to your visitors and throw it out there on Monday. As we’re all visiting each other’s Fun Monday posts we should answer the various questions we come across.

Show&Tell me about a bird, I’m easily made happy.

Well. I'm not a bird person. In fact, in all the photos that I have shot in my life, I don't believe I have EVER photographed a bird.

Even by accident.

Not that I WOULDN'T take a photo of a bird. It's just that, um, well, I just never have!

Which leaves me to ask a question of my readers.

The thing I really want to know from you is what DO you like and what DON'T you like about my subject matter.

What are you hoping for when you see my blog pop up in your reader? And what makes you go "Oh never mind" and move on to the next?

Does that sound all-full-of-myself? Hmmmm, maybe. But I really do want to know. As you know, my current employment as a newspaper person is kinda tenuous right now, and I am seriously trying to figure out how to make a living as a writer. So knowing what rocks YOUR world about MY world -- or constructive criticism thereof -- could actually help me in my quest.

Think of it as your opportunity to mold my future.

Or destroy my ego.

Janet, without wanting to sound like a brown-nose, I love your blog! You have a unique writing style that makes me chuckle and makes me grateful I didn't have children!

No, seriously, the best blogs are those that give a true insight into people's lives and the funny things that happen.

DOn't change a thing girl!

Consider my nose browned as well.

What stands out the most, however, are the conversation posts. You people are funny.

And the one about Roo's dad. I remember that really well, also.

But, yeah, me likey all of it.

When I do get a chance to visit with you and read your blog entries, I'm more concerned of what your life is like, what makes you tick.

If that is asking too much then you shouldn't be blogging right? I do so enjoy your 'conversations''s like reading a great novel [not that yours is fiction]'s most always written in first person or like a's very good.

And let me add this, that, I've NEVER been disappointed in visiting! So, in my opinion ---you do ONE terrific job!!

Now, if you can find time, stop over and answer my FM question.

I don't use a reader. I have your page saved in my 'favorites'. So I come here ... blind. No expectations. I just enjoy reading you. You have a delightful way of looking at things and Roo-Girl keeps you on your toes.

I wouldn't change a thing. No, really. I'm not trying to suck up either. Unless, you're offering cake.

Yeah, good luck getting an answer on that one. I'll just say that your use of proper grammar and the way you tell one (and only one story) in a post are some of my fave things about your writing.

Janet said...

Your honesty keeps me coming back; you have an amazing quality to write and write well about life!

Karen said...

I have only the best of the blogs I have found on my google reader, and yours is there, honey. I love reading it because you are so funny and you write so well.

If the writer doesn't hold my interest in a couple a posts, I don't come back.

A happiness, sadness, concern, outrage....there is always an emotion involved. Very well done.

i like being drawn into people's lives without too much drama or in your faceness. and when they reply back saying i was helpful or whatever. and funny stories.

*blush* i haven't had the opportunity to read too many of your posts, but i do have to say i love the honesty and the fluency of your writing. By fluency i just mean that it sounds so if i am chatting on the phone with you. Hope that helps!

I got nothin'. There is not one time that I start reading and think to myself aw fuck this. I think every post is good. I think all you are going to get today is a really big head! XO

I have only been a reader for a short time, but I look forward to your posts. Funny and honest...that is what keeps me coming back.

I've only been to your blog on another Fun Monday, Janet, so when I go to any blog I want it to be inviting. If it's too clicky, or talking about something which doesn't interest me I won't read it.
I'm attracted to good graphics, white space, fun, humor, dogs, food, movies, entertainment, or something interesting in other ways.

SING!!! Still blog of course, but damn it lady...sing!! Is that being too pushy? Tough. I love your voice. I love your blog. Hell I think I love you. Too much? :o)

Jo Beaufoix said...

Hmm, big head definitely on the way for you lady. I love how you make every day stuff funny. I love hearing about the Ru girl as that will be Miss E in 6 years time so I'm preparing myself.
Sorry about the job situation, but go for it with the writing, you're good. :D

I never say "oh never mind." I really do like the bloggers who write about a variety of things, not just the kids, or dinner (!), or jobs, or whatever. I like the pictures, and the vacation stories, and hearing about the heartaches. That's what friends talk about, right?
That being said, my favorite topics are the dinner conversations that make me snort liquids. But again, I don't think I could stand that EVERY day.

Colleen said...

I don't know yet since I really just started reading you. But I like what I've been seeing! :)

Colleen said...

oh, and I like hearing things from your perception as a mom with older kids (well, older than mine).

Hahahaha... I asked the SAME question! As writers, I suppose we want to know what sparks that interest!

I can tell you that when I come here, I feel like you've offered me a cup of coffee and a comfy chair to go with a great visit. It's like dropping in on your sister - the one with the funny stories.

You know Our blogs are all about each person that writes them!! So I think Yours is great!!

I dig mommyblogs. And I say that with the deepest of affection.

I like your blog, when I get a chance to read it! It's one of the few I'm guaranteed to enjoy - and I'm just a lousy commentor! said...

Is there a missing post, J? Random Acts of Blondness the 6th.

You know I loves you. I think you are just the right amount of wit and angst.

I love your blog. Yup, my nose is smeared in poop, too. I don't care :)

But I have to admit, I love your stories. I'm all about human interest stories, like reality TV. I'm rarely able to follow story lines, but yours always keep me captivated :)

I read everything you write. :)

I love your blog, what I love most is when you post your conversations. They crack me up.

Lets see is there anything I would say oh never mind about???

Hmmmm I've never seen you post about it, but probably if you went political. I hear the news I don't need to read it on blogs. I have my own opinion and someone else is not going to change my mind. hehehehe

But like I say, I don't see that drivel on your blog. so like it!!!!

I just like your style of writing. It's more of being in a conversation with you. You reach all the senses and emotions. Your words weave a tapestry and most of all you're just plain fun and seem to be on your own planet !H-m-m-m! I have you "bookmarked and visit whenever I have the time.

This was the only question I could think of for Fun Monday as well and I thought people would consider it a cop out. (I think it's a good question though!) Bird photos? Well, I just am not as fast or as good as Lisa. I'm much better at photographing objects which do not move.

My favorite thing about your blog has always been your accounts of family conversations. I swear, they are very similar to some we have here. My kids make me laugh and your family makes me laugh in the same way. I just can't ever recreate my family's conversations in a way that sounds funny when I read it back to myself. So, I come here instead:o)

I love your sense of humor and your honesty.

the difference between a "brown-nose" and a kiss ass is just a little depth perception..
(that was for aoj.. bwaa ha ha ha)

what I don't like?
You write so much I can't get back to visit before you've got 34 posts up.
ha ha... actually my blog lines said that you had 34 new posts. Then I saw that four of them were on bloglines three times. And 10 of them I'd already read.

So, I decided you really didn't write to much.
So, your blog is perfect.
