Such a bittersweet moment! Did she at least look back once? Or was it full steam ahead?

That made me kind of sad. She is so grown up. Mine is only a year away from high school. (sniff, sniff)

Say those are the kind of shorts I wore to college. It all comes back around doesn't it? Do they just get to wear shorts until the end of October there? That's how they do it here. Of course it usually is still hot here until then. I feel for you! It does bring tears.

Awww, it'll be all be okay. My kids would have had a fit if I had brought the camera along on the first day of school. Lucky you for getting that shot!

Now those shorts would not be allowed here. The official rule is that shorts and skirts must come to the fingertips when arms are held straight at your sides. The unofficial rule is that the official rule is only if someone who really cares notices. Some of the teachers don't care much. The principals are pretty much sticklers for the rules.

Personally, I just wish I could still wear the short shorts! I have about 3 pairs in my drawer that should really probably go since they haven't seen daylight for at least 5 years. Oh to be 14 with no butt again! I take that back. I'd just like to have no butt again. And really it's more the bu-thigh region that needs the most help. Geez woman! Now I'm depressed on two different levels!

Awww.

I have to admit though, I am a wee bit jealous. School doesn't start here again till next week. I feel ripped off!

I would never have been able to leave the house in those shorts. I always had to do the "bendover" test before I left, and if too much showed, I couldn't leave before I changed.

Been there done that. Sweet yet slightly heart wrenching.

I would never be able to leave the house in those shorts either.

You're so awesome. My grandmother would have never let me go to school in those.

What a bittersweet day.

You're so brave, to stand there, watching your baby march off to the rest of her life. That must have been so hard to do..

Melissa!! Bend over test????

I remember that day too. I came home and told my mother, "My God, there are so many people at my school!!! I never have to look at the same boy TWICE..."

Do you stay and watch her walk in?? I drop off Kiddo and just sit there tell he walks in and I can't see him. Always have, and probably always will.

Do you realize I feel a little misty eyed, too? I feel like she's partially MY daughter.

What makes me especially enjoy THIS time with my little ones, is the knowledge that THAT time, isn't that far away.

Having children really is like having your heart walking around outside your body. Can't we arm them with clubs? Or at least a body guard??

It's a really great shot!!! Hope she's enjoying the hell out of high school!

Amazing that a post with so few words could be so perfect.
