Fail and fail again (until I don't)

Ok, this is me in the confession mode again.

Perhaps it is that post-vacation thing. Or the fact that I brought some kind of creeping crud home with me from Hawaii. *cough sniffle hork cough*

Or perhaps my muse took a hike.

Whatever it is, it's SOMETHING. Back here, I announced fairly publicly that I had signed up for NaNoWriMo because it was time to tell my story.

Ask me how many words I have written of the 50,000 that I am supposed to have by Nov. 30.

Go ahead. Ask me.

Answer: zero.

It didn't help that we left for Hawaii in the early early morning hours of Nov. 2 and writing a novel about THAT subject while vacationing in paradise seemed a little ... ahem ... off-topic.

And yes, I could start now and muddle forward, but right now, I'm not really in the mood. Why? Dunno. Just not as ready as I thought, I guess.

I have the first line in my head, but that is as far as I could take it. I think it needs to percolate for a bit.

So I've put it aside.

Maybe next year.

On a more pleasant topic, the ladies at Three Bay B Chicks bestowed on me this lovely award:

Those three chicks are pretty hip themselves. Check 'em out!

And ... my bbff (best bloggy friend forever) Holly is having a click fest at her place. All her ad revenue for the month of November is going to Food For the Poor.

So if you don't already read Anglophile Football Fanatic, go there immediately and click through her archives. Those who are hungry will thank you for it. (And I hear a rumor that on Monday, she will have a giveaway. Just sayin'.)

Percolate? Just sit down and do it. It doesn't belong in your head. It belongs 'on paper' - and once you start it - it will just flow right out. Because it's right.

I totally get not writing about that subject whilst in Hawaii. What you need to do is come live here in February, the most depressing month in the year, and do FeNoWriMo.

I think what Holly is doing is great! I donated the graphic to her:) I think I'll go click her some more...

You will get it out someday! You didn't fail, it just wasn't the right time. It will be!

Pshaw. Who cares what the calendar says, or what some crazy Internet craze tells you today, just start writing when the mood strikes. Just don't let yourself put it off forever.

what gave you the crud from Hawaii?? Did you eat a bad roast pig from a luau or something???

You will write it when the time is write. And we will read it and support you through it all. ::hugs::
I hope you get to feeling better.

Don't beat yourself up about it - you have a lot on your plate and your vacation was a time to relax not stress out...

Did you hear that? It was a kissy sound. Don't forget to catch it when it comes by. Thanks a million for the big shout out & the donation. Loads of love.

It's okay to not do it. Blogging is for fun. If it was obligatory, it would be work. Do what you love when you can. Sometime? You'll write it. I think you will be the new Erma when you compile family stories into a manuscript.

Oh THANK GOODNESS I'm not alone.

My word count for Nanowrimo is about the same.

It's been too crazy of a month. Perhaps next year we can cross the finish line together.
