Haiku Friday: the dead-to-the-world edition

Haiku Friday

Today's confession?
I am a terrible mom.
Just witness my sin:

Z-man's bedroom door
is always left open when
he leaves the house.

In the morning, I
am glad to see a closed door.
Then I know he's home.

Some moms can't sleep
until their children are all
tucked in for the night.

Other sleeping moms
wake instantly when they hear
the key in the lock.

I? I sleep soundly
as my kids wander around.
No mother's ear here.

Just the fact that you wrote these haikus shows that you care! Perhaps you have the best answer! Penalising yourself by not sleeping when the children are out won't make them come home sooner! Refreshed you can deal with whatever needs attention later! You're a great Mum!

My kids learned to move around under cover of snoring. When I stopped - they stopped. And MY snoring covers over a LOT of noise.

I'd say you're a better mother because when you get enough sleep you're not cranky.

I don't think that merits calling yourself a bad mother! It shows a lot of trust on your part.

Better to sleep if you can though I never could. They all survive (mostly) whenever or however we worry.

Hubby worries enough for both of us. I stay up with Little Miss and hubby loses sleep when The Boy is out all night. I figure why should both of us be up.

Worrying and not sleeping isn't going to help any. You're not a bad mom ;) Coolest mom ever, remember? ;)

What's bad is when your husband comes home and asks you where the kids are and you know you should know this, and that they told you, but for the life of you, you can't remember...
Heh! Yeah, I would just never do that....

Sometimes I wish I could sleep that soundly.

Do please tell me how you do it! I cannot even THINK about going to sleep until I've talking with my mom and dad and both my sons. When I know everyone is breathing, I can relax. NOT before!

It is truly exhausting!

Oh, and you're NOT (never, ever) a bad mother!
